Toomas Nijnemäe was appointed as Chief Operating Officer at DTEK Energy. For the past 10 years, he has worked for Fortum, the largest Finnish energy corporation with assets in Europe, Asia and the CIS. In this company, Toomas was engaged in, among other things, the implementation of practices and principles of effective business management at power plants in the CIS countries.

“When we talk about energy independence, we move from words to deeds: we increase coal production, invest in the transfer of thermal power plants to Ukrainian fuel, ensure the stable operation of 50 thousand employees. The arrival of Toomas to our management team is another confirmation of our focus on strengthening the Ukrainian energy industry. His knowledge of traditional generation, a deep understanding of the operation of market mechanisms, the experience of introducing the best European practices will help the company to work effectively in the new energy market and integrate into the European energy system, - said Dmitry Saharuk, CEO of DTEK Energy.

Toomas will be responsible for the entire production unit of DTEK Energy: coal mining, power generation, logistics, procurement, and increased operational efficiency. Its key objectives will be to increase the level of labor protection and professional safety, the implementation of the company's production strategy, the implementation of investment projects, operational efficiency and production risk management (ecology, accident rate, etc.).
