According to preliminary data, in 2024 DTEK Energy invested about UAH 11 billion in the rehabilitation of TPPs and operation of the mines. This helped to improve the reliability of thermal generation before and during the current heating season.

In particular, the company's investments in repairs and restoration of thermal power plants totalled over UAH 3 billion in the year. This made it possible to recover more than half of the TPPs that were damaged by the attacks in the spring and summer of 2024 before this winter. However, the massive attacks in November and December last year caused further serious destruction and damage. Power engineers and repairmen continue to work non-stop to restore the facilities.

Thanks to the efforts of miners and the company's investments in Ukrainian coal mining, which totalled about UAH 7.5 billion last year, we managed to maintain the fuel reserves required for thermal generation throughout the year. The investments were allocated to the heading and repair of capital mine workings, the equipping of coal faces, the procurement of mine heading equipment, underground mine transport and production capacity support projects.

‘We are channelling all possible and available resources to ensure that thermal generation and the Ukrainian power grid can operate steadily in the face of enemy attacks. For this purpose, we invested about UAH 11 billion of our own funds into TPPs and underground mines last year. We will keep mobilising all available capabilities to strengthen the energy frontline,' said DTEK Energy CEO Oleksandr Fomenko.

For reference

Last year, russia carried out 13 massive attacks on the Ukrainian energy sector, causing a serious blow to DTEK Energy's thermal power plants. As of the summer of 2024, 90% of the company's thermal generation was damaged or destroyed. In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the company's TPPs have been attacked by the enemy more than 200 times. The attacks injured 56 power engineers and killed 4.
