Second one out: Another new coal face to start working at Pavlograd Mine Group

The Pavlograd Mine Group has started working on a new 111th coal face — the second one since the beginning of the year. Pavlograd miners plan to extract about half a million tons of coal — fuel for Ukrainian thermal power plants — from the new cleaned coal face.

111th coal face is located at a depth of 128 meters, its length is 220 meters, coal formation is 1.05 m. The miners plan to extract at least two thousand tons of fuel from it per day. The team of the No. 6 coal mining site, led by Yevhen Velikov, shall work out the new coal face. Miners shall extract coal from the new face with the help of the “УКД”-200/500 combine, which is well known to Pavlograd miners. This type of equipment has been in operation at the enterprise since 2013. It worked 7 cleaning pits and produced more than 4 million tons of steam coal.

“This is the third coal face that our team shall work on with the help of “УКД”-200/500,” said Ruslan Chichiekov, foreman of breakage face miner and stope miner site No. 6 of DTEK Pavlograd Mine Group. - even in the previous year, we overhauled all the cleaning equipment needed for the coal face operation using DTEK’s investments. Equipment availability for work was carefully checked before launch, so we expect to conduct coal mining from the new coal face smoothly and without accidents. We feel responsible for providing the country with our own coal. We shall work to ensure that millions of Ukrainian homes and thousands of our industrial enterprises receive stable energy. So that our families had confidence in the future, and all Western Donbas lived, developed and prospered many decades ahead.”

Over the first two months of the year, Pavlograd Mine Group has already introduced two new coal faces and produced more than 400,000 tons of coal. In 2021, the company plans to put into operation six more cleaning pits and to produce 3.5 million tons of Ukrainian fuel.
