DTEK continues upgrading its mining equipment at Western Donbas enterprises. The company purchased a cutting frontal complex (CFC) from Corum Miner’s Light machine builders for Pavlograd Mine Group. The cost of the equipment is over UAH 21 mln. The staff of the assembly and disassembly section, led by Dmytro Dziuba shall master the new equipment.
Mechanical engineers have improved the niche cutting complex, which the miners use to conduct split furnaces — mining work-overs in coal layers to install mining equipment. The new equipment shall help Pavlograd miners speed up the preparation of new coal faces and to promote the labour safety.
“DTEK has purchased this modern innovative machine for us instead of the old-fashioned “КН”-78 complex, which we have been operating in our mines for more than ten years,” said Maxim Morozov, Deputy Head of DTEK Pavlograd Mine Group. - This “КНФ” complex is the second to operate at our enterprise. The first one has already worked for us for a year, and we had an opportunity to assess its benefits. Compared to the “КН”, it is more compact and productive, which allows our team to prepare cleaning pits faster for time-effective coal production. And most importantly — the “КНФ” is safe to operate: here the specific system locks have been provided, the launch of each equipment unit is preceded with a warning signal. The combiner’s workplace is protected from possible coal falling with special shields. A complete visualization has been installed for the complex operation system. In general, everything has been well cared for.”
During the year of operating the first “КНФ” complex, Pavlograd Mine Group prepared 8 underground work-overs and went some 1500 route meters.
“On the “КН”-78 we were only able to go maximum 5-6 route meters per day, while with the help of the front complex we are going an average of 15-16 route meters daily. That is, productivity has increased considerably. And the chainless feeding system of this equipment allows us to avoid accidents and reduce the number of injuries. The combiner controls the machine by using the control panel and finds himself under a metal overlapping. The combiner can see the load and operation of all units on the screen, so he or she may quickly identify any defects and troubleshoot them. It is important that we receive equipment from Corum as a complete set, from tool kits to spare parts. With the new frontal complex, we plan to work in a smooth and efficient manner. Furthermore, timely preparation of the coal faces shall allow the producers to stably supply fuel to the thermal power plants and to maintain Ukraine’s energy independence,” said Volodymyr Nemtsov, Mechanic at DTEK Pavlograd Mine Group.
