Geroiv Kosmosu Mine Group: opening up new frontiers with new equipment

Geroiv Kosmosu Mine Group's Preparatory Work Section No.1 team has received a new modern P110-03 roadheader from the Novokramatorsky Mashinostroitelny Zavod machine builders. DTEK Energy has spent UAH 17.5 mln to buy this equipment. This is another contribution made by the company to develop its production facilities and support the domestic energy sector. The new equipment will help miners productively and safely prepare new mine workings for coal extraction.

"This is a reliable and highly productive piece of machinery, which has proven itself well under our geologic conditions. Since 2017 our mine group has already acquired and is operating eight P110 roadheaders. The first ones have operated without failures and without major overhauls for more than three years. It attests to their long service life. Another advantage is that the manufacturer provides roadheader maintenance services. That is why our mine group chose this equipment as the basis for our tunnelling machinery fleet and expands it each year with new P110 roadheaders", said Maksym Nesterov, Geroiv Kosmosu Mine Group's Head of Mining Operations.

Tunnellers from Vyacheslav Mushat's crew will operate the new P110-03 roadheader instead of the old one that has driven over 8 km of mine workings.

"Four years ago we were the first to implement P110 in our mine group, and we know all its technical parameters and what this equipment is capable of. That is why we immediately got down to work. As the time it will take us to drive the tunnels and the quality of tunnelling will impact the launch of new longwalls and production of coal for the Ukrainian thermal power plants. The Company's investments in our production enterprises are very important. They give us confidence in a sustainable future of the mines and stability in the region. My team is ready to do our job in an efficient, safe and quality way. Our crew intends to drive over 900 linear metres by the end of the year", said Vyacheslav Mushtat, crew chief of Preparatory Work Section No.1.

Geroiv Kosmosu Mine Group now has 14 tunneller crews who plan to drive almost 17 km of new mine workings in 2021
