On 8 February at 11:10 pm, Ternivka Mine Group dispatcher’s office received information about a probable short circuit and smoke at the surface power sub-station supplying the unit No. 3 of Western Donbas mine. This caused the main ventilation fan to switch off.
The company promptly rolled out Accident Elimination Plan and notified 8-Militarized Mine Rescue Team Squad.
In accordance with Accident Elimination Plan, the mine operations were suspended and workers who were in the mine at that time were brought to the surface.
The emergency situation at the sub-station was effectively eliminated, after which operation of the main ventilation fan was resumed.
At 01:00 am on 9 February, Western Donbas mine resumed its normal operation. No one was injured or harmed.
