In January-November 2017, DTEK Energy has increased coal purchases from the state-owned mines of the Lviv-Volyn Coal Basin to 668,000 tonnes. Compared with the same period in 2016, coal supply has risen by 17.4%. DTEK maintains a consistently high demand for Ukrainian G-grade coal to strengthen the country’s energy independence.
DTEK Energy supplies Ukrainian coal to its TPPs to the maximum extent in order to produce electric power for the country with minimal use of imported coal.
In November, coal supplies from the mines of the Lviv-Volyn Coal Basin at the DTEK’s station tripled by last year November, amounting to 73,000 tonnes. Compared with the figures of this October, supplies have been remaining at the same level.
DTEK continues implementation of the program to reduce dependence on imported coal. There are three key steps. Step 1: transferring units from firing anthracite to firing G-grade coal. Step 2: providing TPPs with Ukrainian coal. Step 3: upgrading TPPs for their efficient and uninterrupted operation.
