Ukraine’s Independence Day and the City’s Birthday have been celebrated in Ladyzhyn in a creative and cheerful manner. The Ladyzhynskyi Holt – a traditional wood sculpture festival – has already started here. This year’s motto “The creative energy of the communities” represents its mission and the idea of the festival organizers: the local authorities, local community, and DTEK.
To begin with, the festival participants planted trees in a dendrological park to replace the trees that were cut to make the future sculptures.
The festival will continue for two weeks, and sculptors will transform wood blocks into unique sculptures. They will create both fairy-tale creatures and real heroes: a bear, a mermaid, and a Cossack. The sculptures will be used to decorate the dendrological park.
“Every year, our city makes a change for the better. This is a result of the combined efforts of the community, local authorities, and business. DTEK is our reliable partner supporting our social initiatives. We are grateful to the company and everyone who helped organize this celebration. We hope that we will see new projects of this kind in our city as they strengthen the community, promote friendship among its members, bring positive emotions, and most importantly encourage people to change their city for the best,” says Ladyzhyn’s mayor Valerii Kolomeytsev.
Apart from the wood sculpture festival, other creative and entertainment events will be held in Ladyzhyn central park throughout the festivities. For instance, visitors can attend The Touch of Silence art exhibition of Oleksandr Shevchuk’s paintings. It will be hosted by the Prometheus Cultural Center opened on the initiative of the local community and with support from DTEK on the basis of a club of entrepreneurs.
“DTEK Energy is a socially responsible business and a reliable partner to the community. Ladyzhynskyi Holt is one of the examples of how the company shares the values of the community in a town whose economy is dominated by the company’s business,” noted Ihor Sniehin, director of DTEK Ladyzhynska TPP. “We place special importance on the development of cities and towns where our employees work and live, we want to make them comfortable for living with opportunities for full development. This is exactly why we will continue providing support to such initiatives undertaken by the local community and local authorities.”
Ladyzhynskyi Holt –2020 festival will continue until September 4 inclusive. The carvers will present the results of their artistic efforts on the last day of the festival.
The organizers took care about the safety of visitors as well. All exhibitors and visitors were provided with antiseptics and face masks.
