In January this year, DTEK Energy put 2 new longwalls into operation, with 3 more planned for February.
Ildar Salieiev, DTEK Energy CEO, announced this on his Facebook page.
He said that the heating season has not yet ended, and the company is already providing a reliable base for the next one.
“For our miners, early preparation isn't mere words. It is a professional credo. It is a production necessity perfected over years of hard work 24/7. In order to have enough fuel for reliable operation of thermal power plants during the heating season, new reserves in the mines need to be prepared long before it starts,” he said.
Salieiev said that in January, the company's miners put two new coal longwalls into operation. The plan for February is to put 3 more in operation. The plan for the year is 25 ones.
He explained that preparing each longwall is not an easy or quick process. It takes from 6 months to a year. Moreover, the development of coal reserves after putting it into operation is a completely individual for each longwall.
“Never stop and do the job with confidence is important. The longwalls we are planning to put into operation now should guarantee uninterrupted operation in winter 2025,” said Salieiev.
To support Ukrainian coal production, DTEK Energy intends to increase investments in mines once again this year. Last year, the company invested almost UAH 7 billion in its own production.
“We keep on holding the energy front, because everyone is united by one goal – to ensure that Ukrainians have electricity and heat,” assured Salieiev.
