To ensure regular coal production, DTEK Energy underground miners have already put 8 new longwalls into operation since the beginning of 2024. Two of them were brought into operation last month, in March.
This will enable us to meet the fuel needs of thermal power plants during summer peaks and accumulate reserves for the next heating season.
"Despite the enemy's attacks on the energy sector, our task remains the same - to do everything we can to ensure the stable operation of the energy system. We realise that our TPPs will be in high demand this summer and during the next heating season. Fuel extraction for thermal generation requires rhythmicity and consistency in all processes. Launching new longwalls is the foundation for production and, accordingly, reliable operation of thermal power plants, especially during peak consumption," said DTEK Energy CEO Ildar Salieiev.
DTEK Energy underground mines are planning to bring 26 new coal longwalls into operation in 2024. Last year, the company's investments in Ukrainian coal mining assets amounted to about UAH 7 bln, almost twice as much as in 2022.
