Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, DTEK Energy has rebuilt its thermal power plants from scratch 49 times and resumed their operation after enemy shelling. Almost half of these cases occurred over the past year.

After hostile attacks, the plants were often forced to shut down or ‘go to zero generation’. This means that the plant does not generate or supply electricity to the grid. Before the full-scale invasion, ‘going to zero’ was something extraordinary and happened only a few times a year due to accidents, but now it has become almost ‘routine’.

‘Last year, our thermal power plants suffered ten massive enemy attacks. But despite all the challenges, our power engineers have made and continue to make every effort to restore the destroyed facilities. Almost 4,000 power engineers and repairmen of the company were directly involved to eliminate the aftermath of these attacks and restore the facilities,' said DTEK Energy CEO Oleksandr Fomenko.

For reference

Last year, russia carried out 13 massive attacks on the Ukrainian energy sector, inflicting a serious blow on DTEK Energy's thermal power plants. As of the summer of 2024, 90% of the company's thermal generation was damaged or destroyed. In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the company's TPPs have been attacked by the enemy more than 200 times. The attacks injured 56 power engineers and killed 4.
