In 2024, DTEK Energy will invest almost UAH 4 bln to repair and restore the TPPs that have suffered from massive attacks on the energy sector over the past three months.

This was announced by DTEK Energy CEO Ildar Salieiev on his Facebook page.

According to him, 9.2 GW of capacity has been lost in the energy system due to enemy shelling, and over 80% of DTEK's TPPs have been damaged or destroyed.

"All this is about the unprecedented realities and scale of destruction that the russian war machine has inflicted on the Ukrainian civilian and energy infrastructure, primarily thermal and hydro generation, which balance the energy system during peak consumption," he said.

According to Mr. Salieiev, the company is seeking and mobilising all possible resources to cope with this.

"First of all, we are mobilising internal resources. This year, we are investing about UAH 3.9 bln of our own funds in the repair campaign and rehabilitation of DTEK's thermal power plants. This compares to our investments last year," he assured.

However, no company can cope with such large-scale destruction on its own, he said. That is why the Ministry of Energy is consolidating the need for equipment across all companies to find it at mothballed power plants abroad.

"In the meantime, power engineers have no choice but to continue 'getting their own way'. Clear the rubble, restore, and recover the power plants from 'zero generation' again and again, without looking around for the next missiles and drones overhead," said Mr. Salieiev.

As we know, all DTEK Energy's TPPs have been experiencing a complete shutdown due to russia's massive attacks. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the company's TPPs have been shelled by the enemy over 180 times. As a result of these attacks, 51 power engineers were injured and 3 were killed.
