In 2021, DTEK ENERGY’s generating facilities operated at their maximum and increased electricity production. The DTEK ENERGY TPPs supplied more than 15.7 billion kWh during 8 months of 2021. This is 2 billion kWh more than in the same period last year.
The company’s thermal power plants experienced the greatest load in January and July of this year, supplying 2.7 billion kWh and 2.4 billion kWh to the grid, respectively. Even despite the recent crisis in the energy sector, when numerous power units of state and private generating facilities were forced to shut down due to lack of fuel and abnormally low tariffs, DTEK ENERGY TPPs were operating at their maximum. On some days in July, up to 28 power units of DTEK ENERGY’s TPPs were operating simultaneously in the energy system. In the same month, as compared to June, the company almost doubled the average daily electricity supply. In the most critical month — July, the company’s thermal power plants supplied almost 2.4 billion kWh of electricity, for which more than 1.4 million tonnes of coal were used.
A similar situation was in January this year. In the midst of the heating season, the DTEK ENERGY thermal generating facilities, in response to the power system’s need for load-following capacities, used all the equipment in production of electricity for several months, which significantly exceeded the approved forecast balance.
‘DTEK ENERGY, as a reliable and responsible company, is always ready to support the stability of the Ukrainian energy system with its load-following capacities. Our contribution is the volume of electricity we produced and supplied, thus satisfying the increased demand for its consumption during peak periods, which speaks for itself. We will do this during the heating season as well. Now, we are intensively preparing for it, because it is important for every Ukrainian that the power system operates without interruptions,’ noted Ildar Salieiev, DTEK ENERGY CEO.
Therefore, as the heating season approaches, the company is actively replenishing coal reserves in the TPP warehouses both through own production and through imports. In January–August this year, DTEK ENERGY mines put 21 new longwalls into operation and produced almost 11 million tonnes of G grade coal. In addition, the company was the first among domestic companies to start advance import of fuel from Poland, Kazakhstan and the United States.
As of September 22, coal reserves in the warehouses of DTEK ENERGY TPPs increased to 715 thousand tonnes.
