Ladyzhynska TPP has started the scheduled overhaul of unit No. 2. Thus, preparation is in process both for the upcoming heating season and for an increase in the unit’s capacity. Its repair is DTEK ENERGY’s contribution to the country’s energy independence and another investment in the stable operation of the TPP.
‘Several months of hard work are ahead. Our plant operates around the clock; therefore, the equipment gradually wears out and requires continuous updating. The unit capacity when shutting down for repair is 186 MW. And upon completion of the repair, the capacity is expected to increase to 291 MW. Therefore, now, when there is no extra demand for additional electricity, we are repairing the unit so that it will continue to operate at full capacity without interruptions,’ said Ihor Sniehin, Director of DTEK Ladyzhynska TPP.
The plant power engineers, together with the contractor ‘INTERNERGOSERVICE’, will complete repairs within 2.5 months. Investment in repairs amounts to UAH 77.1 million.
As part of the repair, boiler, turbine and electrical equipment will be diagnosed at the power unit No. 2 of DTEK Ladyzhynska TPP. To improve the technical and economic indicators and the reliability of the power unit, it is planned to repair the metal structures of the furnace and the wheel-space. The lining of the convection shaft will be restored and metal of the boiler will be checked. The electrostatic precipitator will be repaired in order to reduce emissions of harmful substances and in the future to comply with regulatory parameters. The overhaul will reduce the unit’s accident rate and consumption of equivalent fuel in order to improve the quality and competitiveness of electricity generation.
‘We have already started preparatory work: power engineers are cooling the turbine, washing and slagging the boiler. We also plan to repair the smoke exhauster and high-pressure heater. Now we are following the plan without delays. All work should be completed in December,’ commented Yurii Maltsev, Chief Engineer at DTEK Ladyzhynska TPP.
Once the overhaul of power unit No. 2 is completed, the Ladyzhynska TPP will be able to operate reliably and economically during the autumn and winter season. Presently, two units Nos. 1 and 3 of the plant operate and bear the 446 MW load in the power grid of Ukraine.
Within 8 months this year, DTEK ENERGY allocated almost UAH 1.4 billion for the repair of TPP units, BOP, buildings and structures. In total, by the end of 2021, the company plans to allocate about UAH 2.5 billion for TPP repairs.
