To ensure stable operation of thermal power plants, DTEK Energy has agreed to import additional 80,000 tonnes of thermal coal from Poland. Thus, the total volume of fuel contracted by the company increased to 357 thousand tonnes. This will allow thermal generation and the Ukrainian power system to get through the winter and peaks in electricity consumption more reliably.
To date, almost 182,000 tonnes of coal have been delivered to Ukraine out of the total contracted volume of imported fuel. Deliveries continue regularly.
“Imported fuel is an additional “airbag” for thermal generation for the winter. As always, our priority remains production at Ukrainian mines. According to preliminary data, our investments in Ukrainian mines last year amounted to about UAH 7 billion. This allowed us to put 26 new coal mines into operation, meet our annual coal production plan, and provide the necessary fuel for our thermal power plants. Everything to ensure that Ukrainians are provided with light and heat!” said Ildar Salieiev, DTEK Energy CEO.
