‘In March, russia continued its large-scale attacks on the energy sector, which resulted in the destruction and damage to 90% of thermal generation. We have never started preparing for winter in such conditions. However, thanks to the efforts of power engineers, miners, repairmen and mechanical engineers, their expertise and daily work 24/7, and the mobilisation of all available resources, we have fulfilled all our plans by 100%. To this end, we have already invested over UAH 8 bln in winterisation since the beginning of the year, and by the end of the year it will be over UAH 11 bln. We are not stopping there, as we will continue to make considerable efforts to get through the heating season,' said Oleksandr Fomenko, CEO of DTEK Energy.
Power engineers are doing their utmost to return as much capacity to the grid as possible as soon as possible. Since the beginning of the year, the company has invested UAH 2.3 bln in repairs and restoration of TPPs to ensure reliable operation. These investments will be increased to UAH 3.8 bln by the year end. However, due to the unprecedented damage to the TPPs, 24/7 recovery will continue throughout the winter and in the coming years.
Thanks to the efforts of the miners, we managed to accumulate coal reserves necessary to get through the autumn and winter period and maintain the reliability of the Ukrainian energy system. To this end, since the beginning of this year, the company's miners have commissioned 16 new longwalls, with another 9 planned for the end of the year. The company's investments in Ukrainian coal mining totalled UAH 6 bln in the first nine months of the year. The company plans to increase them to UAH 7.7 bln by the year end.
Throughout the year, DTEK Energy's machine-building companies have also been helping miners to extract coal, which is important for the country, and continue to do so. In the first nine months of the year, mechanical engineers manufactured and repaired 982 units of mining equipment. Key products include 10 new roadheaders and shearers. Machine builders also supplied 758,000 spare parts and components to address the needs of miners. This will help to improve the reliability of Ukrainian thermal power plants during the winter by providing them with sufficient fuel.
For reference
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, DTEK Energy's TPPs have been attacked by the enemy almost 190 times. As a result of the attacks, 56 power engineers were injured and 3 were killed. In March and June this year alone, the enemy carried out seven massive attacks on the company's TPPs. The shelling destroyed or damaged about 90% of DTEK's thermal generation capacities.
