DTEK Energy Allocated UAH 5 bln to Restore and Prepare Enterprises for Summer Peaks and the Next Heating Season

According to preliminary data, in January–April 2026 DTEK Energy invested about UAH 5 bln in preparations for summer consumption peaks and the next heating season. The company directed most of the funds to the repair campaign and recovery work after enemy attacks, as well as to supporting the more reliable operation of thermal generation and coal enterprises.

During the previous autumn-winter period, Ukraine’s energy sector once again came under intensive attack, with DTEK Energy’s thermal power plants repeatedly at the epicentre. From October to February alone, the company’s plants were massively shelled 11 times, causing significant destruction as the enemy simultaneously used dozens of drones and missiles.

“We continue recovery non-stop because the scale of damage remains unprecedented. Recovering TPPs after shelling will continue throughout 2026 and beyond. Our task remains unchanged: to recover capacity as quickly as possible so that Ukrainians have light and heat and the energy system becomes more resilient, especially during peak load periods,” emphasized Oleksandr Fomenko, CEO of DTEK Energy.

Background

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion (2022–4M 2026), DTEK Energy has allocated more than UAH 49 bln to repairs and recovery of thermal power plants, as well as to supporting the operation of mines and machine-building plants. During this period, the company’s TPPs have come under more than 220 attacks. Power engineers have had to restart plants “from scratch” and recover their operation after critical damage 68 times.
