Importing the coal from other countries allowed creating a safety buffer and strengthening the reliability of thermal power generation and the Ukrainian power grid, particularly during peak electricity consumption. The company is making every effort to ensure that Ukrainians have electricity and heat.
“We have less than two months until the end of the heating season. To make sure it goes as planned despite the war, everyone has been preparing in advance. Every month, new coal faces were put into operation in order to maximize coal production and maintain it at a level sufficient to ensure the reliable operation of thermal power plants. We backed ourselves up with imported fuel, which lets us maintain and grow our supplies even at the height of the cold season. We are doing everything we can to ensure the success of the heating season,” says Ildar Saleev, the CEO of DTEK Energy.
