Yesterday DTEK reached an agreement with the American company ‘HC Trading’ (‘Heidelberg Cement Group’) for delivery of two shiploads of American thermal coal to Ukraine.
The total amount is 150 thousand tonnes. It is expected that the coal will be delivered to Ukraine in two shiploads: in the first shipload in December 2021, and in the second shipload in January next year.
This will be the company’s second contract for coal imports from the United States. The first contact for the supply of 75 thousand tonnes of US thermal coal was signed with another supplier at the end of August.
The agreement on the import of coal is part of the company’s preparation for the heating season; therefore, the new consignments of fuel are intended primarily for the needs of Zaporizka, Ladyzhynska and other TPPs of DTEK ENERGY.
‘Time before the start of the heating season is running out, so our company is fully committed to start it with maximum resources. To this end, we have intensified the repair at our TPPs, we are opening new longwalls and increasing production at our mines. In addition, we were the first to start advance imports of fuel from Poland, Kazakhstan and the United States to Ukraine. All the efforts are aimed at ensuring the reliability and stability of the Ukrainian energy system so that Ukrainians have light and warmth,’ noted Ildar Salieiev, DTEK ENERGY CEO.
