Kilometer-Long ‘Green City’ at the Bilozerska Mine

DTEK employees at the Bilozerska Mine took over the participation in the traditional Green City campaign. More than forty people a day became eco-volunteers. Together they managed to clear a kilometre of the pedestrian zone from dead wood, overgrowth and garbage.

DTEK ENERGY is a responsible and reliable company, both in the energy sector and in caring for the environment. In all regions where the company’s enterprises operate, the ‘Green City’ environmental promotion has been held for ten years. This year, employees of our mine cleared a section of the pedestrian zone — from the enterprise to Bilozerske town. Often, colleagues walk or ride their bicycles on this sidewalk to work and home. This physical activity both strengthens health and helps to make the air cleaner by reducing car emissions.

‘This is my first time participating in such a promotion. It is nice to work with a friendly team and together to make the world around a better and cleaner world,’ said Ihor Mukha, Duty Electrical Fitter for Repairing Equipment at Stationary Equipment Unit No. 1.

Participants were cleaning carefully and in compliance with quarantine measures. As a result, residents of Bilozerske cleared a kilometre-long part of the sidewalk from overgrowth and dry branches, which were trying to ‘grab’ inattentive pedestrians. The site has become well-tended and safe. In total, about 30 cubic meters of garbage and leaves were collected.

‘Each of us is responsible for the environment. And together we can do a great and good deed. Such actions prove it every year,’ said Snizhana Piliponchuk, forewoman of the administrative and household facilities.
