Following the import of coal from Poland and the USA, DTEK ENERGY commenced deliveries from Kazakhstan. The first batch of about 4 thousand tonnes will have arrived from Kazakhstan to Ukraine by the end of the week.
Ildar Salieiev, DTEK ENERGY CEO, reported this during today’s Energy Club panel discussion on the topic ‘Will Ukraine Have Time to Prepare the Energy Sector for the Autumn and Winter Period of 2021–2022?’.
He spoke about the company’s efforts to prepare for the heating season.
‘We are already doing our best to ensure our country’s safe heating season, and both light and heating for Ukrainians in winter. We primarily use Ukrainian coal to ensure the stability of the Ukrainian energy system. But in addition, we were the first among other companies to start importing it in advance from Poland, the USA and Kazakhstan,’ stated Ildar Salieiev.
He also stressed that the stable heating season, first of all, can be ensured by a stable situation with tariff-setting, as well as by debt repayment on the balancing market. Currently, Ukrenergo’s debts to DTEK ENERGY’s generators amount to UAH 1.9 billion, and to all market participants — about UAH 11 billion.
As of September 7, coal reserves in DTEK ENERGY TPPs warehouses amounted to 623 thousand tonnes. In August alone, they increased by almost 77 thousand tonnes (+14%).
