DTEK Energy Coal Miners Put the First Two Longwalls Into Operation This Year

DTEK Energy's coal mining companies continue to supply coal to thermal power plants, especially at the height of the heating season.

To this end, the company's underground miners commissioned the first two new coal longwalls this year in January.

‘Our task, like that of other generating assets, is to maintain the reliability of Ukraine's energy system and provide electricity to Ukrainians. We have to think not only about this heating season, but also prepare for the summer consumption peaks and the next winter. We work as a team - power engineers, miners and mechanical engineers. We are already putting coal longwalls into operation to ensure a consistent supply of resources for our TPPs,’ said DTEK Energy CEO Oleksandr Fomenko.

In 2024, the company's investments in Ukrainian coal mining totalled UAH 7.5 billion. These funds were spent on the construction and repair of capital mine workings, equipping coal faces, equipping the mines with tunnelling equipment, underground mine transport and projects to maintain the production capacity.
