DTEK Kurakhivs’ka TPP Has Conducted a Tactical Drill

A large-scale practical drill to teach the personnel how to respond to a fire caused by shelling was conducted at DTEK Kurakhivs’ka TPP. The building of a pumping and filtering unit that supplies drinking water to over twenty thousand consumers was selected as a ground for the drill. The exercise was attended by fire brigades of the State Emergency Service, paramedics, and the police.

The drill was conducted in the conditions that simulated the real situation: special-purpose vehicles were hurrying to the location of a hypothetical emergency with sound alarms on and driving at high speed. Such a response was required by the situation as they had to rescue not only equipment but also a hypothetical victim.

The duty personnel of the pumping and filtering unit was the first to respond and inform about the danger. It is their agility that defines the outcome of the entire drill exercise.

"DTEK ENERGY is a responsible and reliable company, and a zero-incident culture and safe working conditions are the top priority for it. Well-coordinated response to emergency situations has to be practised in advance. We closely monitor the instructions issued in such situations, the time it takes the management to respond to an emergency, and the behaviour of the personnel during the evacuation from a building and in the case of a fire. Human life depends on coordination. We cannot ignore it", commented Stanislav Valantir, Director of DTEK Kurakhivs’ka TPP, in connection with the drill.

All divisions were actively involved in the exercise. The State Emergency Service units inspected the area for explosive objects and gave the all-clear to extinguishing the fire. DTEK Donetsk Grids was responsible for the safety and restoration of the power supply. Meanwhile, firefighting units joined in fighting the fire. A medical team did everything to resuscitate the victim.

Given the circumstances, an extraordinary meeting of the city emergency committee was convened to deal with hypothetical water supply. The degree of coordination between participants of the training has also come under scrutiny during the liquidation of the disruptions in the functioning of life support systems resulting from combat operations in the territory of the Kurakhove city territorial community.
By the way, the energy workers demonstrated excellent results during the drill.
