DTEK Kryvorizka TPP Started Repairing Its Power Unit No. 1

On 30 August, current repairs to power unit No. 1 started at DTEK Kryvorizka TPP. The repairs will be completed by 1 October. The start of the repairs was scheduled for the second half of June, but in order to maintain the balance in the Ukrainian united energy system, power unit No. 1 continued working for two extra months. The first power unit has the best technical and economic indicators and is the only one at Kryvorizka TPP that operates by burning G-grade coal.

The specialists of Kryvorizka TPP together with the internal repair contractor ‘Interenergoservice’ are planning to repair gas ducts, air ducts, ball mill, dust system valves, and perform diagnostics of high-pressure heaters and deaerators. These measures will increase the load of the power unit and improve its efficiency. DTEK makes a significant contribution to the energy independence of Ukraine. That is why it is extremely important to carry out the repairs as planned because it will allow Kryvorizka TPP to generate more megawatt-hours for the Ukrainian energy system and guarantee the stable supply of heat to Zelenodolsk residents in winter.

‘To compete on the energy market today, we have to work efficiently and reliably,’ said Serhii Dehtiarenko, Director of DTEK Kryvorizka TPP. ‘Ukrainian power industry needs load-following capacities, that is why their repair is strategically important. Moreover, we are approaching the autumn and winter season and have to be well prepared for it.’

Stable and accident-free operation of power plants is a guarantee of reliable operation of the Ukrainian energy system. To date, DTEK ENERGY has performed 16 out of the 28 repairs of TPP’s power units planned for this year. Investments made since the beginning of the year amounted to UAH 878 million, and by the end of the year, investments in repairs are expected to reach UAH 2.5 billion.
