DTEK Has Agreed on Delivery of Additional 60 Thousand Tonnes of Coal from the United States in November

DTEK and the international company HC Trading have agreed on delivery of additional shipload of 60 thousand tonnes of American coal. The coal is expected to arrive in Ukraine in mid-November this year. Thus, to date, the total volume of coal contracted from the United States is 285 thousand tonnes.

‘Despite the fact that the whole world faced an acute shortage of and record prices for energy resources, DTEK ENERGY, as a reliable and responsible company, is fully committed to ensure that Ukraine has enough coal in winter and Ukrainians have light and warmth during the heating season,’ noted Ildar Salieiev, DTEK ENERGY CEO.

Earlier, the company signed contracts for the supply of 225 thousand tonnes of coal from the United States. In particular, an agreement was reached with the international company HC Trading (Heidelberg Cement Group) for the supply of two shiploads of American thermal coal to Ukraine. The total contract volume of coal is 150 thousand tonnes. This is the company’s second contract for the import of coal from the United States. The first contact for the supply of 75 thousand tonnes of US thermal coal was signed at the end of August.

In addition, the company has been importing coal from Poland (two contracts for the supply of 340 thousand tonnes of thermal coal were signed), as well as from Kazakhstan, for three months.
In total, during September–October (as of October 21), the company imported more than 278 thousand tonnes of coal.
