We will have light and heat in the winter: DTEK Dobrotvirska TPP repairs power unit 8 in Dobrotvir
Power engineers of DTEK Dobrotvirska TPP are getting ready for winter. To ensure stable electricity and heat supply to Ukrainians, power unit 8 undergoes repairs. The major repair will continue until the end of the month because the power engineers are very thorough with preparing equipment for fault-free operation during the most demanding season: autumn and winter. This is yet another contribution made by DTEK Energy power engineers to the energy independence of the state ant its preparation for the heating season.

“A thermal power plant is a facility working round the clock to supply light and also heat in the winter to Ukrainians’ houses. It is a known fact that equipment gradually wears down and requires ongoing replacement. During the last retrofitting campaign, we increased the capacity of power unit 8 from 150 to 160 MW and simultaneously improved its economic performance indicators. The power unit has become the most efficient unit of the power plant. We are currently performing its major repairs to ensure its stable operation in the future,” says Oleh Tarashchuk, director of DTEK Dobrotvirska TPP.

Once the repairs to power unit 8 are finished, the power engineers expect to restore its operating parameters in accordance with design values. This will ensure reliable and cost-effective operations of the Dobrotvirska TPP during an autumn and winter season.
Complete diagnostics of boiler, turbine, and electric equipment has already been finished at power unit 8.

We have already started replacing boiler heating surfaces of boiler 12 and repairing oil systems, electric equipment, a generator, and an electrostatic precipitator. We have to complete all repairs by October 30,” comments Andrii Korolevych, chief engineer of Dobrotvirska TPP.
