On the night of 2 to 3 December, the russian army attacked the private sector of the mining town of Ternivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region with drones. Two residents were killed and three more were injured in the attack. One of the victims was our colleague, 43-year-old miner Vitalii Korotich, and the other was retired miner Valerii Kalinevych.
Vitalii Korotich will forever remain 43 years old. He had 23 years of underground experience and worked as a miner at Ternivske Mine.
His colleagues remember him as the kindest person in the team – calm, balanced, always ready to help. He loved his family very much and lived for his loved ones. The miner is survived by his wife and three daughters.
Valerii Kalinevych was 50 years old. He worked as a miner at Pavlohradska Mine (now - Heroiv Kosmosu Mine) his entire working life until retirement. He was a mentor by profession, teaching many young people the mining trade and helping new employees adapt to the team. His colleagues remember him as a kind, responsible man who worked hard and was always ready to help. The miner had a great sense of humour and was the life and soul of the team. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
When the first explosion from a drone shattered the night's silence, Vitalii and Valerii rushed to help the victims and were hit by the second explosion.
This is an irreparable loss for our entire mining community.
We sincerely sympathise with the loved ones of our colleagues.
They will forever remain in our memory as reliable fellow workers, devoted to the mining trade.
May their memory live on forever.
