Technologies on guard of energy independence: the first Ukrainian coal shearer for ultra-thin coal seams is presented at the CorumExpo

On 26 – 27 August, Corum Group (DTEK) is presenting its mining machinery at the expo in Kharkiv. The event is attended by over 120 partners and clients of the company. Corum showcases 15 models of mining machinery, including an absolutely new CLS550P coal shearer designed for ultra-thin coal seams that are common for Ukraine’s mining landscape. This combine is unique for Ukraine.

“I am glad to meet with my partners and colleagues at the CorumExpo just on the eve of the Miner’s Day,” says Mykhailo Potapov, CEO of Corum Group. “Today, we are presenting our new CLS550P coal shearer which is unique not only for our company but for the entire country. It can mine seams as thin as 0.85 m, producing up to 10 tons of coal per minute. The machine is fully automated and guarantees safety of the miner operating it. I am grateful to our partners for their trust in us. I am proud that we can prove that Ukraine is capable of producing modern machinery of the highest class.”

The expo features the machinery manufactured by Corum Svitlo Shakhtarya and Corum Druzhkivka Heavy Engineering Plants, in particular, CLS450 and KA200 coal shearers, KNF road cutter, BPR drill loader, crushers, conveyor pans, DTM and 3KD90TS roof supports, and KTPRN-400/6-0.4 transformer substations. A unique CLS550P coal shearer is the highlight of the expo.

“DTEK Energy mines are among the largest clients ordering mining machinery and equipment in Ukraine. Thermal power plants need coal to generate electricity, and modern mining equipment is needed to secure coal supplies. Corum equipment ticks all the boxes, its reliable, modern, and powerful,” shares his thoughts Mykhailo Barabash, Coal Production Director at DTEK Energy. “Some of the machines demonstrated at the expo are already operating at our mines, such as, for example, a CLS450 coal shearer and a KNF road cutter system. The brand new CLS550P coal shearer will arrive for testing to DTEK Pavlogradugol mines. I am confident that the new machinery will help us produce even more coal to secure energy independence of Ukraine.”

“Whatever surprises life throws at us, Corum has always found opportunities to organize such events for its clients and partners,” says Ildar Saleev, CEO of Donetsksteel. “Corum’s real and sincere client-oriented approach is demonstrated everywhere. People are the main asset of every company. I congratulate every member of Corum team on this expo and would like to thank you for your constant self-development and self-improvement that drives forward not only your company but also dozens of companies operating your equipment.”

Corum equipment operates in 15 countries around the world.
