DTEK Energy lost 80% of its thermal generation after the missile strikes on the energy sector. It is very difficult to repair such damage on our own, so our colleagues from coal companies came to help the power engineers. A team of courageous miners has arrived at one of DTEK Energy's TPPs to help power engineers restore the plant.
Ihor, one of the miners, shared his impressions: ‘You know, hearing about what happened and reading about it in the news is one thing, but seeing it with your own eyes is a completely different experience. Firstly, we were impressed by the scale of the destruction and the courage of the power engineers who are still working and restoring the plant despite all the challenges. To be honest, it was scary. But all our guys did a great job, no one let us down, everyone worked hard, no one slacked off. The enemy can destroy the equipment, but not the desire of Ukrainians to withstand and win!’
Underground Mines are a part of a large electricity generation chain. Miners extract coal, and power engineers turn it into light and heat for our homes.
‘The guys are working very well. I haven't seen such enthusiasm for a long time,' says Ihor, a power engineer who is leading the recovery efforts. ’The miners have brought their skills in difficult conditions to the surface, where their experience can increase the speed of work many times over!’
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, DTEK Energy's thermal power plants have been shelled about 180 times. Over the past month and a half, the enemy has carried out five massive attacks on the company's TPPs - on 22 and 29 March, 11 and 27 April, and 8 May.
