Carpathian region has received 21 ventilators from DTEK and Rinat Akhmetov Foundation since the beginning of the pandemic

This week, DTEK and Rinat Akhmetov Foundation donated two modern ventilators to Ivano-Frankivsk Regional clinical hospital of infectious diseases and the pediatric clinical hospital within the scope of the Fight COVID-19 in Ukraine project. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Ivano-Frankivsk doctors have already received 21 ventilators to save lives of COVID-19 patients.

“DTEK is a socially responsible company. This year, we jointly with Rinat Akhmetov Foundation have delivered over 13,000 express tests to diagnose the virus, 12,000 protective suits for medical professionals, and 21 ventilators to hospitals in Ivano-Frankivsk region. DTEK Burshtynska TPP operates in this region. Our employees live here. This is why this help makes part of our responsibility. The equipment that we delivered will save human lives both now and when the pandemic ends,” said Valerii Khomiakov, director of DTEK Burshtynska TPP.

The ventilators that were delivered to Ivano-Frankivsk doctors are among the most modern in the world. Most importantly, they are easy to use and virtually eliminate human errors. Thanks to these features, the ventilators can be used immediately after the installation at any Ukrainian hospital which is extremely important in the midst of the pandemic when lives have to be saved here and now. Using its artificial intelligence, the device analyzes the patient’s condition and selects the most appropriate oxygen supply mode.

Every time, DTEK representatives cooperated with regional state administrations to identify the need for equipment and the list of hospitals. Aid was delivered to both regional central hospitals and small district hospitals that admit COVID-19 patients for treatment.

“I would like to express my gratitude to DTEK and Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. They were among the first who came to the rescue when we did not know yet which challenges we had to face. Every time when we receive such help, our hospitals get stronger and more confident. Now we know that we are ready for providing high-quality medical care to our patients. Providing a highly-sensitive ventilator to the regional pediatric clinical hospital was one of the top priorities because this is a specialized medical facility that treats children from the entire region,” comments Head of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration Vitalii Fedorov.

DTEK signed a memorandum on development and support of the Carpathian region in the fight against the pandemic back in December of the last year. This support is the most required right now. In the past 24 hours, 332 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Ivano-Frankivsk region, and over 19 thousand of the region residents have been infected since the beginning of the pandemic. The only thing that is capable of helping in the most difficult situations is quality medical equipment including ventilators that save lives of seriously ill patients.

Ukraine will be able to overcome this challenge and win the fight against the pandemic by joining efforts of the business, authorities, and the community.
