Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, employees of DTEK Energy companies have donated 2,900 litres of blood for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, war victims and civilians in need of urgent assistance.
More than 2,530 employees of the company's power generation, coal mining and machine-building enterprises joined the donation. Many of them are regular donors who donate blood on a regular basis. Thanks to their active participation, we managed to create a powerful blood reserve that saves lives at the front and in the rear.
Among the donors, there are 63 people who have been awarded the titles of “Honorary Donor” (over 40 donations) and “Merited Donor” (over 100 donations).
"Most of DTEK Energy's enterprises are located near the war zones, so our employees are particularly aware of how critical the availability of donated blood is for wounded soldiers, children and civilians. Donating blood has become not only a gesture of support but also part of our corporate culture of help and unity in times of war," said DTEK Energy CEO Oleksandr Fomenko.
Oleh Studenikin, a section mine foreman at Heroiv Kosmosu Mine Office, has been giving hope to those who need it most for 5 years:
‘My donation journey started with whole blood, but later I switched to its components - plasma and platelets, as they are essential for the treatment of patients with cancer, after severe injuries or operations,’ says Oleh. – ‘The procedure for donating the components takes place at the regional blood bank and lasts an hour and a half, and the materials can be donated every two weeks, which allows us to help people more often. The hospital itself contacts me when there is an urgent need, especially for my blood type 3. For me, donating is not just an act of goodwill, it is a vital mission. Because your blood not only saves lives, but also gives hope to those who are fighting for every breath of life,’ he says.
Blood donation is an important but not the only initiative of the company's employees and businesses. In different regions, DTEK Energy teams weave camouflage nets, donate one-day earnings to the needs of the frontline, make trench candles and stoves, repair cars for defenders, collect sweets, warm clothes and equipment for soldiers, and coal enterprises systematically supply Ukrainian defenders with heating fuel.

In 2024, DTEK Energy's companies paid UAH 16.9 billion in taxes to the budgets of all levels.
This is more than 14% more than in 2023, when UAH 14.8 billion was paid.
‘Our priority is to restore the TPPs damaged and destroyed by shelling as soon as possible and prepare for the summer consumption peaks and the next heating season. But despite the war, the company is committed to fulfilling its obligations to the state, providing jobs for the economy and continuing to pay salaries to employees on time,’ said DTEK Energy CEO Oleksandr Fomenko.
In 2024, the company's own investments in repairs and restoration of TPPs and Ukrainian coal mining totalled UAH 11 billion. This has largely helped restore thermal power generation capacities and continues to go on non-stop, and miners managed to put 26 new coal longwalls into operation last year and another 5 since the beginning of this year.
