Since the beginning of the year, two mines that are part of the Geroiv Kosmosu mine group put seven longwalls in operation. The average daily output across the mine group is almost 14 thousand tonnes. Since the beginning of the year, tunnellers have driven about 15.4 km of mine workings.
Sergey Faraonov, Deputy Director for Operations of DTEK Geroiv Kosmosu mine group comments:
"Each tonne of 'black diamonds' produced is the result of great efforts of our miners, professionalism of our team, experience in overcoming challenges and understanding of our responsibility for sustainable provision of the country with energy resources, especially on eve of the new heating season. Furthermore, today intensive production of Ukrainian G-grade coal is the key to reducing the country’s dependence on anthracite, which currently we have to import to Ukraine. I am grateful to each member of our team for this achievement!"
DTEK has allocated UAH 2.7 bln for the mine group's development over the last 12 years. This allowed the miners to significantly boost the mines' performance. This year the company plans to allocate UAH 805 mln for maintaining production capacities and ensuring occupational safety at the mine group. These investments will enable the miners to put five more longwalls in operation by the end of the year. The mine group's annual plan for 2017 is to extract 4.8 million tonnes of so-called 'black diamonds'.
