Dnipro hospitals received two more ventilators

DTEK, together with Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, as part of the Fight COVID-19 in Ukraine project, donated 2 modern ventilators for the needs of hospitals in Dnipropetrovsk region. Those ventilators were donated in addition to 12 ventilators that had been donated to Dnipropetrovsk region the day before. Modern equipment will help doctors save the lives of patients with coronavirus and will also become an indispensable assistant in intensive care units after the end of the pandemic.

The ventilators from DTEK and Rinat Akhmetov Foundation are high-class resuscitation equipment. Most importantly, they are easy to use and largely eliminate the human factor.

This time, the devices were received by City Clinical Hospitals Nos. 9 and 16 of Dnipro City Council.

“Our hospital is the base for treating patients with coronavirus. Currently, 62 patients with severe pneumonia are in the hospital. Therefore, such assistance from DTEK and Rinat Akhmetov Foundation is timely and extremely necessary. I would like to express my gratitude to the patrons for helping to save the lives of patients and protect our doctors from contracting the virus,” Oleh Khasiliev, General Director of Hospital No. 16, said.

In order for medical personnel to have the necessary knowledge and skills for the effective use of ventilators, at the end of May 2020, Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, together with the Ministry of Health and the Association of Anesthesiologists of Ukraine, held an online conference for doctors on the specifics of operating the latest models of ventilators.

“Connecting seriously ill patients to a ventilator is the last hope for their salvation and recovery. Knowledge of all the intricacies of using the device helps us to provide timely and qualified assistance. This is a very important help for doctors,” Kseniia Dubovyk, doctor of City Clinical Hospital No. 16, who took part in the online conference, said.

“The foundation has accomplished something almost impossible. Ventilators have been sought all over the world. Doctors admit that it is almost impossible to buy high-quality ventilators, as they are needed in every country in the world. 200 ventilators are delivered to Ukraine and donated to state hospitals in the regions of the country,” Oleksandr Savenko, representative of DTEK, commented. “In April, we donated 30,000 express tests for virus testing, 1 PCR analyzer as well as 12 ventilators to the needs of Dnipropetrovsk region. Today, we are donating the next batch of devices to the region where both coal mining and generating enterprises of the company operate. Where our employees and their families live. We believe that these devices will help medical workers save many lives after the end of the pandemic.”
Every time DTEK representatives cooperated with the city administrations to identify the need for equipment and the list of hospitals.

“We are grateful to DTEK and Foundation for this equipment. It is these devices, protective suits, and PCR tests that helps fight the pandemic and save human lives. We are grateful to everyone who takes the initiative and lends a helping hand to our doctors,” Oleksandr Sanzhara, Secretary of Dnipro City Council, noted.
