Dmytro Sakharuk, General Director of DTEK Energy, made the top managers ranking in Ukraine and became one of the three best managers in the energy industry according to the Focus magazine.
An abnormally warm winter, a decline in industrial production amid the economic crisis, and the COVID-19 pandemic have led to a decrease in demand for electricity in the country. The situation in the industry was worsened by the problems associated with the launch of a new model of the energy market. Despite this, last year DTEK Energy completed infrastructure projects to convert the power units of Prydniprovska and Kryvorizka TPPs from imported anthracite to Ukrainian fuel – the G coal and made every effort to ensure reliable operation of the Ukrainian energy system. Moreover, in 2020, the company continues to implement digital projects and is developing a pilot energy storage system at Zaporizka TPP.
“The key event of the last year was the launch of a new model of the energy market. Unfortunately, this most important event for Ukraine was accompanied by a number of problems that led to a complex crisis in the industry. To overcome it in the energy sector, a constructive dialogue is required between all market participants. As a responsible business, we are ready to offer our expertise and assistance to solve accumulated problems,” said Dmytro Sakharuk.
Industry experts, analysts, and market participants took part in compiling the rating of the Focus magazine who identified the most significant markets for the Ukrainian economy by their contribution to the country’s GDP. As a result, in each of the sectors, the experts selected top 3 managers without ranking who, according to the authors of the rating, deserve the title of the best top manager in their field last year.
