Geroiv Kosmosu Mine Group has produced 4.9M tonnes of coal in 2017, that’s 200K tonnes more than the annual target. The coal mined by this Mine Group is supplied to national TPPs and allows to provide the population of four Ukrainian regions with light and heat (Zaporizhzhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia, Lviv).

The record volume of coal has been mined thanks to the collective’s professionalism and consistent DTEK investments in developing and maintaining the capacities of both mines of the Mine Group. UAH 721M have been invested into Blagodatna Mine and Geroiv Kosmosu Mine in 2017.  The investments targeted the purchase and repair of cleaning equipment, capital mine workings, the underground transport chain operation, the repair of tunneling equipment, ventilation and degassing.

Geroiv Kosmosu Mine has launched 9 faces in 2017. On average, the Mine Group has been producing 13.7K tonnes of coal per day.

Sasun Mkrtchyan, Director of DTEK Geroiv Kosmosu Mine Group:

“The Mine Group operates and develops steadily, ensuring that the enterprise keeps providing jobs to the population of the region, miners receive wages on time, the Western Donbas develops, and the thermal power sector is supplied with fuel for electric power generation in the coming decades. We have almost reached the annual production mark of 5M tonnes  of coal, while understanding that there is more at stake than just coal. Our work today is a foundation for the survival and further development of our country.”

The miners plan to commission 7 faces and produce about 4.8M tonnes of “black gold” in 2018.
