With the support of DTEK Kurakhovo schools are developing "Energy Efficient Schools" - the winner-project of the all-Ukrainian competition

The project "Energy Efficient Schools" was highly appreciated by the international expert jury among 30 large Ukrainian companies such as Coca-Cola, Nestle, Nova Posta, "1 + 1", Energoatom.
Marina Stefanova, member of the UN Global Compact (Bulgaria), shared her impressions of the contest: "I was impressed by the content, variety and quality of the proposed projects. Cases correspond to real problems; effectively planned and implemented. Companies show that business is and under all circumstances can be a force of positive changes. "
Victoria Grib, head of the Department for Social Development of DTEK, commented: "Why is our project important and time-consuming? First, today the economy is just as important for our people as for Europeans, Americans, Israelis, whose reasonable thrift is a part of the common culture for a long time. Secondly, the education of a fundamentally new, responsible attitude not only to our own finances, but also to consumption in general is a most important task for our entire country. Such an attitude is profitable, it is environmentally friendly, it forms a more mature and responsible view of the world. Despite the school format, the training takes place in an interesting form, so we got coverage not only of the children's, but also of the adult audiences. And this means that we are on the right track! "
Irina Atamanchuk, the project manager at school No. 3 in the city of Kurakhovo, says: "Two hours a week during the year, the pilot class learned to save energy resources and received distance education. The theory of the guys embodied in a real project - there is already a ready plan for upgrading the cabinet for computer science classes. This is a project for the future repair of the school. In addition, the children organized an "energy patrol" when schoolchildren not only controlled excess electricity and water consumption throughout the school year, but also shared advice with their classmates on saving energy resources in everyday life. "
Recall that in the all-Ukrainian rating "Energy Efficient Schools -2017 school № 3 of the city of Kurakhovo took 7 place, ahead of schools number 5 and number 1. The greatest number of points among the Kurakh teachers - participants was scored by the teacher of mathematics and computer science at school №3 Irina Atamanchuk.
In 2017, an online project platform was created. Thanks to this, 900 schools have been remotely connected to training for today. Schools in Kurakhovo also have the opportunity in 2018 to study energy efficiency on an online platform.
About the project:
The educational project "Energy Efficient Schools" has been held since 2012 in 23 regions of Ukraine. From 2012 to 2017, almost 300 schools took part in the project, about 130 thousand people were involved (students, teachers, parents). Schoolchildren prepared 168 project proposals for the introduction of energy-efficient technologies. In homes and schools, according to the results of the project, 482 thousand kW / h were saved, this is 1 million UAH. In general, during the passage of energy efficiency training, schools save about 20.5% of electricity.
