DTEK Energy Miners Commissioned Two New Coal Longwalls in May and Seven Since the Beginning of the Year

To prepare thermal generation for summer consumption peaks and the next heating season, DTEK Energy miners have already commissioned seven new longwalls since the beginning of the year. Two of them were commissioned in May.

"Our main task remains unchanged - to ensure the reliability of the energy system and at the same time continue to restore our power generating assets after hostile attacks. In summer and during the heating season, the load on thermal generation traditionally increases, so we maintain the appropriate rhythm of operation. Production of fuel for thermal generation requires detailed planning and consistency at every stage. This includes the launch of new longwalls. We are doing everything we can to keep to it," said DTEK Energy CEO Oleksandr Fomenko.

Last year, the company's investments in Ukrainian coal production totalled about UAH 7.5 billion, and over the last three years (2022-2024) - UAH 18 billion. The funds were allocated for the construction and repair of capital mine workings, equipping coal faces, furnishing mines with tunnelling equipment, underground mine transport and projects to maintain production facilities.
