During the first 10 months of this year, DTEK Energy has put 21 new coalfaces into operation to ensure a reliable and enhanced operation of Ukrainian thermal power plants during the heating season. In November-December, the company's miners plan to commission five more coalfaces.
Ukrainian coal mining is a priority for the company. Therefore, this year's investments in it were doubled – to UAH 7.4 billion.
The company is also preparing an additional safety margin for the winter. For this purpose, DTEK Energy imports fuel from abroad. As of today, 62,000 tonnes of thermal coal have been delivered from Poland. The total amount of fuel to be imported during the heating season is 210,000 tonnes.
“We do our best to ensure that our thermal power plants are ready to operate at maximum capacity whenever necessary. In order to do this, we provide thermal generation with sufficient fuel reserves for enhanced operation. Firstly, we produce our own fuel, but we are also finding opportunities to strengthen the power system with additional imported supplies. As a result, by the start of the heating season we have accumulated significantly more coal than at the same time in pre-war 2021," Ildar Saleev, the CEO of DTEK Energy said.
