Tunnelers of the Geroiv Kosmosu Mine Group Have Received a New Tunneling Machine

DTEK ENERGY continues to develop PAVLOHRADCOAL undertakings by upgrading the fleet of mining machinery. In July, the tunnelers of the Preparatory Division at the Geroiv Kosmosu Mine Group received a new modern KPD tunneling machine from CORUM GROUP. The company spent over UAH 15 million to purchase this machinery.

"This tunneling machine will be the first to be tested by tunnelers in longwalls of the Geroiv Kosmosu Mine Group. Similar machines have already been operated by neighbouring mines. According to the reviews from our colleagues, this machinery demonstrated excellent performance and reliability in the mining and geological conditions of the West Donbass,” noted Maksym Nesterov, Head of Mining Operations at DTEK Geroiv Kosmosu Mine Group.

The tunneling machine is compact, and its size guarantees better mobility as compared to the previous models of this equipment. It has a radio control system, modern Windows 10 software, and a monitoring system that facilitates quick diagnostics and removal of malfunctions. The tunneling machine has a long service life until major repairs ranging from 3 to 6.5 km. The other advantage of the machine is that it is covered by 13-month warranty and benefits from service support provided by the manufacturer.

The tunneler team supervised by Yevhen Rakhimov from Preparatory Division No. 5 will operate the new KPD tunneling machine instead of P-110 that was used to prepare over 2 km of longwalls.

‘We have finally received a new machine we have been waiting for a long time. It will help us improve our performance. Corum’s representatives demonstrated how to operate the machine and help us to assemble it in the mine. We expect to prepare mine workings with a cross-section of 16 m2 using the new tunneling machine. By the end of the year we have to pass 590 meters to prepare a new face for producing coal to secure the stable operation of the mine group and make a contribution to the energy independence of our country,’ noted Yevhen Rakhimov, a Supervisor at Preparatory Division No. 5.

Today, DTEK PAVLOHRADCOAL mines operate 19 KPD tunneling machines from CORUM GROUP.
