Ukraine’s Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal paid a working visit to one of DTEK Energy’s thermal power plants to thank the energy workers for their efforts during the heating season, which proved to be the most challenging since the full-scale war began.

The entire autumn and winter period was marked by heavy shelling of energy infrastructure, prolonged cold spells and continuous work in highly dangerous conditions. Despite this, the energy workers ensured stable power generation and the continuous repair of damaged equipment.

“The heating season proved a serious challenge for the entire national energy system. Thanks to the power engineers’ professionalism, their rapid response and their ability to work in conditions of constant danger, we managed to ensure a stable operation during this period. Their work contributes to the country’s resilience and the basic living conditions of millions of people,” said Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal.

“The power engineers have demonstrated a high level of accountability for the results. All the plants operated as a single system — swiftly, in a coordinated manner, and with a clear understanding of the critical nature of their role. This work is systematic in nature: we are already preparing for the summer peaks and next winter, strengthening areas where necessary,” emphasised DTEK Energy CEO Oleksandr Fomenko. “It is important that such dedicated work is now being recognised by the relevant ministry — this is a sign of trust and an understanding of its significance for the country.”
