Big business continues to help doctors fight the pandemic. DTEK and the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation handed over three modern expert-class artificial lung ventilation devices and the first batch of overalls to doctors of the specialized medical and sanitary unit of Energodar. Modern equipment will help doctors save the lives of patients with coronavirus, and will also become an indispensable assistant in intensive care units after the end of the pandemic.
Rinat Akhmetov was the first to start helping the country in the fight against coronavirus by pooling the resources of the SCM business, including DTEK. UAH 300 million were directed to the purchase of express tests, 200 ventilators and protective suits for doctors.
“Energodar is a city of power engineers. Our employees and their families live here. And it is important for us, as a socially responsible business, to support the city. Always. Anytime. Earlier, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and DTEK donated 34,000 rapid tests for the diagnosis of coronavirus to the Zaporozhye region. Now the region is starting to receive equipment that saves lives - modern ventilators. They can be used immediately, which is very important in an epidemic. This, I am sure, will add to all of us a sense of confidence and security, ”said Sergei Shovgelia, director of DTEK Zaporozhskaya TPP.
First Deputy Mayor of Energodar Igor Kurdya thanked the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and DTEK for their constant support:
“I would call the social partnership that has developed between the city and DTEK - the reliable help of a friend. She is needed when she is needed. In April, we really needed tests - and the Fund, together with DTEK, helped us acquire them. Today, no less relevant is the supply of modern ventilators to our medical and sanitary unit. We are grateful to our partners for the help they provide us ”.
Sergei Shovgelia presented the doctors working in the intensive care unit with the first batch of medical uniforms made by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for a special order individually for each doctor. A little later, protective suits will be received by all medical workers of the SMSC who are involved in the fight against coronavirus.
Viktoria Klimenko, Director of the Health Department of the Zaporozhye Region, recalled that DTEK and the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation were the first to lend a helping hand to doctors when the coronavirus appeared in the country. Then local doctors received personal protective equipment from the business, which could not be purchased at that time. Now the doctors have received ventilators.
In order for medical personnel to have the necessary knowledge and skills for the effective use of ventilators, at the end of May 2020, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, together with the Ministry of Health and the Association of Anesthesiologists of Ukraine, held an online conference for doctors on the nuances of working with the latest models of ventilators. In total, more than 800 medical workers in Ukraine have passed such a webinar, including the doctors of Energodar.
