DTEK TPPs compensates for the shutdown of units of Zaporizhzhya NPP due to attack by occupiers

As a result of an armed attack by the invaders on the Zaporozhia NPP, 1.3 GW of capacity generated by nuclear units has been lost.

However, through the efforts of the central dispatcher and thermal generation, it has been possible to maintain power supplies. To that end, DTEK has activated an additional nine power units of its thermal power plants to compensate for the power lost at the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

The press service of DTEK has reported: “As of the morning of Friday 4 March, additional commands were received to turn on nine units to compensate for the capacities of nuclear units outside the schedule. DTEK now has 23 TPP power units were in operation instead of the planned 14."

DTEK emphasised that all the company’s TPPs have the necessary coal, with all coal mines continuing to operate normally to provide fuel for thermal generation. DTEK remains ready to follow all the dispatcher's instructions to ensure the stability of the energy system.
