Luhansk TPP (DTEK Energy) is under constant shelling

Over the past 24 hours, the Luhanska TPP which is located near the demarcation line in the city of Schastye, has been under constant shelling. A fire broke out on the territory of the TPP as a result of the damaged communication transformer. Due to shelling the fire can not be localized. The buildings of the educational campus and oxygen station and units №10 and №15 have also been damaged.

At the moment the employees who are critically important for the operation of the TPP remain at the plant. The have been evacuated to the bomb shelter. All the others work remotely.

Applications for a ceasefire to restore power lines and energy supply to the residents of Schastye and nearby settlements of Luhansk region have been submitted this morning. Unfortunately, the situation remains critical.

At present, serious threat to the lives and health of the TPP’s employees remains. Luhanska TPP is at risk of stopping operation without the possibility of its resumption.

Luhansk TPP is the largest producer of electricity in Luhansk region and the only producer of thermal energy for consumers in the city of Schastye. The energy supply of strategic enterprises and critical infrastructure facilities, schools, kindergartens, medical institutions, etc., as well as the heat supply of the residents of the city of Schactye depend on the TPP’s reliable operation.
