In preparation for the heating season, DTEK ENERGY is repairing the power units of its thermal power plants. To date, the company has carried out 16 out of 28 repairs planned for this year. Investments made since the beginning of the year amounted to UAH 878 million, and are expected to reach UAH 2.5 billion by the end of this year.
The stable and failure-free operation of thermal power plants is a guarantee of the reliable operation of the Ukrainian energy system during the autumn and winter season. To ensure the reliable operation of the equipment, DTEK ENERGY’s TPPs repair their power units. The repairs were carried out at Prydniprovska TPP (power unit No. 9), Burshtynska TPP (units Nos. 5, 8 (were not planned), and 10), Kurakhivs’ka TPP (units Nos. 3, 6, 7, and 9), Luhanska TPP (unit No. 13), Zaporizka TPP (units Nos. 1, 2, and 4), Dobrotvirska TPP (turbine No. 5), Kryvorizka TPP (unit No. 3), and Ladyzhynska TPP (units Nos. 1 and 3).
‘DTEK ENERGY, as a reliable and responsible company, always prepares for the heating season in advance. Despite the difficult situation in the energy sector and billion-dollar debts, we fulfil our commitments. We stockpile coal produced by our mines and at the same time import fuel from other countries. Our load-following TPPs ensure the reliability of the energy system during the peak demand periods. We also invest in the repairs of our equipment, and this year we plan to invest almost UAH 2.5 billion. This is only a portion of our contribution to ensuring the reliability of the Ukrainian energy system and therefore guaranteeing the uninterrupted supply of light and heat to the homes of Ukrainians,’ said Ildar Salieiev, DTEK ENERGY CEO.
Currently, DTEK ENERGY is repairing five power units of its thermal power plants. These are unit No. 3 at Zaporizka TPP, unit No. 11 at Burshtynska TPP, unit No. 10 at Prydniprovska TPP, unit No. 4 at Kurakhivs’ka TPP, and unit No. 8 at Dobrotvirska TPP.
By the end of the year, DTEK ENERGY plans to complete scheduled repairs to another eight power units of the thermal power plants, in particular, Ladyzhynska (unit No. 2), Luhanska (unit No. 10), Burshtynska (units Nos. 7 and 12), Kryvorizka (unit No. 1), Kurakhivs’ka (units Nos. 5 and 8), and Dobrotvirska (unit No. 7).
It became possible to step up the repair once the situation on the electricity market returned to normal in August. It allowed the company to achieve economically justified prices and find the resources required to prepare the generation plants for the autumn and winter season.
