In 2025, DTEK Energy Allocated UAH 16 Billion To Support Thermal Power Generation and Coal Mining During the 2025/2026 Heating Season

In 2025, DTEK Energy invested UAH 16 billion to support the Ukrainian energy sector, of which UAH 9.3 billion went to thermal power plants and UAH 6.7 billion to coal mines and machine-building enterprises. These investments are vital for the stability of the energy system during the most challenging heating season of 2025/2026, when the country faced both massive hostile attacks on its energy infrastructure and extreme cold spells.

Throughout the year, the company carried out a large-scale repair campaign at thermal power plants to repair the damage caused by shelling and restore critical equipment, components, buildings and structures at the plants. At the same time, investments in coal mining and engineering ensured more reliable operation of Ukrainian mines.

“More than half of this heating season is already behind us, but it remains the most challenging of any during the war. Weather conditions, combined with regular, large-scale attacks, are placing an unprecedented strain on the system. To prepare as much as possible under the current wartime conditions, we have invested significant funds in the recovery and maintenance of thermal power generation. This is because it is precisely this that helps the energy system maintain reliability, especially during peak load periods. In total, since the start of the full-scale invasion, we have channelled UAH 43.6 billion into TPPs and mines. “Our key priority remains unchanged – to do our utmost to ensure that light and heat return to Ukrainian homes despite the enemy’s energy terror,” said Oleksandr Fomenko, CEO of DTEK Energy.

For reference

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, DTEK Energy’s thermal power plants have been attacked more than 220 times. Since last October alone, the company’s plants have come under heavy attack from the enemy on 11 occasions.

Since February 2022, power engineers have had to recover the plants from “zero generation” state and resume their operation more than 60 times following critical damage.
