Good deals to cure the autumn blues: members of the youth movement of DTEK Ladyzhynska TPP held a work party in the city
Over a ton of garbage was collected and removed from Ladyzhyn by power engineers who are members of the youth organization of DTEK Ladyzhynska TPP. The volunteers joined the joint campaign launched by the youth movement of DTEK Energy to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the United Nations and the 20th anniversary of the UN Global Compact.

The power engineers and their families decided to clean one of the dirtiest areas in Ladyzhyn located on Protsyshyn Street. The volunteers cleaned the shrubbery and collected over a ton of garbage. They set an example of how the smallest contribution made by everyone to the common cause could be a driver of the global changes for the best.

“Every day when I walk to my car shed, I pass through this territory. It is very unpleasant experience to see how this fly-tipping area is growing and gets covered by shrubbery. All this is done by people who also walk through this area. Some of them dump waste while others turn a blind eye to such immoral acts. It is a disappointment that such residents are among us because their attitude is not only a demonstration of disrespect to our home city but also causes damage to the environment and health of each of us,” says Oleksandr Havryliuk, the leader of the youth movement of DTEK Ladyzhynska TPP. “We work at DTEK, which is a reliable and responsible company. We school ourselves to have the same attitude to everything in life. There is no one but us who will take care about our city where our children will grow and live. Such good deals serve an inspiring example for our children.”

This is not the first campaign of the kind organized by the local power engineers. Twice a year, the power plant’s personnel join DTEK’s general corporate campaign to plant trees and clean the territories where the company’s businesses operate. The number of volunteers who join work parties has been growing from year to year. Ladyzhyn power engineers hope to find more supporters to their good deals and that the areas that have already been cleaned will not be littered again.
