DTEK, together with Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, donated 30,000 express tests to hospitals in Dnipropetrovsk region to identify patients and prevent the spread of coronavirus.
DTEK provides its support to the regions of Ukraine where enterprises operate through Rinat Akhmetov Foundation which has already allocated UAH 300 million to provide Ukrainian hospitals with equipment to fight coronavirus, protection kits for medical workers, and express tests.
The need of Dnipropetrovsk region for express tests was determined in close coordination of the DTEK Headquarters with the regional governor, representatives of local authorities, and society.
“Today, the COVID-19 pandemic is spreading very quickly throughout the world and Ukraine. Today in Dnipropetrovsk region, 71 confirmed cases of the disease have been registered. We have a very active regional headquarters for countering coronavirus where the main business partners are SCM, Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, and DTEK. Such support is very important for us, and we look forward to further cooperation. We are grateful to the companies that have undertaken to help the region from the first day of the fight against the pandemic. Together, we can stop the virus spread. We will distribute the tests to hospital bases in the cities of Kamyanske, Kryvyi Rih, Pershotravensk, Pavlograd in order to carry out mass testing,” Oleksandr Bondarenko, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Region State Administration, said.
Express testing is the fastest way to detect the disease and is essential to contain the epidemic. Highly sensitive tests for the primary diagnosis of coronavirus can check a patient with suspected COVID-19 in just 15 minutes.
A third, or rather 9,400 express tests are received by the cities of Western Donbass, where DTEK Pavlogradugol enterprises operate. In particular, the tests will be provided to hospitals in Pavlograd, Ternivka, Pershotravensk, Pavlograd and Pershotravensk districts.
“DTEK Pavlogradugol is a city-forming enterprise for Western Donbass. Despite the energy crisis and the possible suspension of mines operation, we are helping and will continue to help our region in the fight against coronavirus. Our miners and their families live here. High-precision express tests are an opportunity to timely diagnose and prevent the coronavirus spread. We try to minimize the possibility of contamination in mines as well. We monitor the health status of workers, introduced an enhanced cleaning and disinfection regime in the premises and on the territory. We do our best to preserve people’s health and support the enterprises’ operation. Only through joint efforts of representatives of society, business, and government, we can prevent the pandemic spread in the region. Together we will cope with this problem,” Serhii Voronin, General Director of DTEK Pavlogradugol, said.
