DTEK's communication campaign on the sustainability of Ukraine's energy sector won gold in the Best Crisis Communications Measurement & Reporting category and silver in the Best Use of Measurement for a Single Event or Campaign category at the AMEC Awards 2025. This is one of the most prestigious international awards in the field of communications effectiveness assessment.
The project recognised by the international jury was the installation Fight for Light. Its basis is a 40-tonne transformer from DTEK Energy's TPP, destroyed by russian shelling. The installation was set up in autumn 2024 on Kontraktova Square in Kyiv. It immediately became a symbol of resilience — Kyiv residents gathered around it, artists and experts performed there, and photos of the object spread across social networks and media around the world.
The aim of the campaign is to draw the attention of the Ukrainian and international communities to the destruction of Ukraine's energy sector and to attract resources for its recovery.
In April 2025, the installation was memorialised in an exhibition at the War Museum, near the Motherland Monument.
AMEC (International Association for Measurement and Evaluation of Communication) is one of the world's leading organisations setting standards for efficiency in communications. Its awards are often referred to as the ‘Oscars’ of the PR and communications world, as they only recognise projects that have a real impact and proven results. The AMEC Awards international competition has been held annually for 23 years in a row.
DTEK believes that this is recognition of Ukrainian communications at the level of the best global practices and proof that even in the most difficult times, Ukrainians are able to speak to the whole world loudly, honestly and professionally.
